Starred restaurants in South Tyrol
Excellent quality dishes are going to spoil your palate in the Michelin-starred restaurants of South Tyrol.
Since 1926 the Michelin stars are awarded to a small number of restaurants of outstanding quality. The list of the starred restaurants is published in the so-called “Michelin guide”, the oldest and best-known European hotel and restaurant guide which every year is published in different editions.
The maximum number of stars that could be awarded is three. One star stands for “a very good restaurant in its category, worth a stop”, two stars represent “excellent cooking, worth a detour” and last but not least three stars that are by the way exceedingly rare stand for “exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey”.
Also South Tyrol boasts some Michelin-starred restaurants listed in the Italian guide “Guida Michelin Italia 2012″. A total of 20 stars were awarded to chefs de cuisine in South Tyrol.
