Mt Roen (2,116 m) is not only the highest peak of the Mendola chain, but also of the whole Nonsberg Group. The peak is situated on the territory of the Trentino and resembles a high plateau.
The view from the top of the mountain is breath-taking, gazing out over the Dolomites, the Ortles, the South of South Tyrol and to the well-known Brenta Group and Adamello-Presanella Alps in Trentino.
The Monte Roen is also very popular with those who love hiking, as the top of the mountain is easy to reach. From the Passo della Mendola - reachable by car or with the Mendola Funicular - Mt Roen can be scaled within a 3 hours’ walk. The hike across mountain pine forests is of medium difficulty and you have got several possibilities to stop for a bite to eat or have a drink, e.g. at the Mezzavia and Genziana mountain huts or the Romeno mountain pasture.
