The world’s biggest crib in Val Gardena

Larger-than-life size figures characterise this crib in Val Gardena.

Every year before Christmas, in the advent time, 18 wood sculptors from St. Cristina in Val Gardena work on the world’s largest crib. The first figure was sculpted in 1989, Mary and her child. It was ready before Christmas and was placed outside the church, adding to the local Christmas atmosphere.

In the mean time, many more figures have been added: Josef, the Three Kings, shepherds and lots of sheep. In the year 2000, the crib received its own stable, which you can admire all year round in the Sportcenter Iman.
