Since 1998 you can have a glimpse of Ötzi, South Tyrol’s most famous inhabitant, in the archeological museum of Bolzano/Bozen (in the picture: a reconstruction). In 1991 the body, half exposed by the ice, was found on the Similaun glacier, which lies in between the back part of Val di Senales and Austria.
In a specially built chamber Ötzi is preserved at a temperature of -6°C and at an air humidity of 98%. Furthermore there is an exhibition on the same floor of the museum giving an insight into Ötzi’s everyday life, his clothes made of furs and grass and his hunting equipment.
