The botanic gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle

The paradise of flowers and plants east of Merano.

On an area of 12 hectares the gardens offer you a journey throughout our entire planet’s flora!

There are eleven pavilions dedicated to various topics:
> the sun gardens, boasting plants from the Mediterranean area - on the southern hill of the gardens you will find Italy’s most northerly olive grove;
> the water and terrace gardens, where you can find an Italian-style formal garden as well as an English garden;
> South Tyrol’s landscapes, featuring examples of South Tyrol’s nature from the valleys to the mountain tops;
> the wood gardens, with broad-leafed trees and conifers from Asia and America.

Opening hours 2010:
> April 1 - November 15 from 9 am - 6 pm (last entry at 5 pm)
> May 15 - September 15 from 9 am - 9 pm (last entry at 8 pm)
> Opened throughout the whole week
> Sorry, but no animals allowed!

> By the way: When exploring the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, you might also visit the so-called Touriseum, a museum on tourism, which opened its doors in 2002!!
