Wanderung Obereggen Karersee 2011

Hiking tour from Obereggen to Lake Carezza

Hiking across coniferous forests at the foot of Mount Latemar to the famous mountain lake.

On a beautiful day in May, when spring has reached also the regions under the peaks of the Dolomites, we decide to make this beautiful hiking tour between about 1,500 and 1,600 metres of altitude. From Obereggen, we hike on trails no. 9 and 8 (”Sentiero delle Perle”) until we reach the famous Lake Carezza.

We recommend this easy 15 km long hiking tour with only 150 metres of altitude difference particularly to families since its trails are also accessible for prams.

The forest trail snakes through beautiful coniferous forests and crosses some meadows above the hamlet Hennewinkel. There are two forest clearings, where we enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding panorama, Mount Latemar and the Catinaccio mountain range. Before we arrive at Lake Carezza, we hike for some minutes on the main road leading to Passo Carezza.

Arrived at Lake Carezza, the emerald green water shimmers through the trees around it … so beautiful we first can’t believe our eyes! Before we enter the visitors’ centre with restaurant and souvenir shops we hike around the lake and enjoy its wonderful nature.
