Village tour around Naz-Sciaves

Easy walk through the highland of apples of Naz-Sciaves with stop at the villages Rasa, Naz and Fiumes as well as at the Raier Moos Biotope

Wide woods, orchards and a few pretty villages dominate the landscape of the municipality Naz-Sciaves (Natz-Schabs). Especially during spring and autumn a charming area, ideal for nice and gentle tours. We start our round tour at Sciaves. In the south of the village we follow the marker no. 8, which leads us through the wood. At the small commercial area we cross the street and walk further through the wood into the direction of Rasa (Raas).

Along the street and at the edge of appletrees we get to the village center of Rasa. We pass the lovely St. Giles Church, find the Pope Benedikt Square and walk further on until the Raier Moos. This is a wide biotope with a pond and a reed-area at the edge of the forest. It is a protected refugium for plenty of birds and other species. Now we have to take a light rise through the wood to get to Naz. We pass the village center and turn right.

Orchards, woods and meadows surround the forest road. Like this we reach Fiumes with its' church which is seen already from far, because it is situated on a hill. The last part back to Sciaves leads us through the wood. We pass the Viummer Kreuz which reminds us, that this place was a battle field once. Today we enjoy the amazing view to Maranza and Rodengo from this point.
