Ski tour to Mount Wurzer Alpenspitze

Mt. Wurzer Alpenspitze, also called Zwiesl, is located in the Stubai Alps and is less known than its neighbour, Mount Einachtspitze

Once you overcome the steep forested belt at the beginning of the ski tour, great grounds for skiing expect you in the upper part. But now from the beginning: Starting point for this tour is the little ski lift in the hamlet of Ento (Entholz) in Ridanna at 1,361 m a.s.l. (limited parking spaces). Across spacious meadows we walk towards south west up to a mountain farmstead, for a little while we follow the signpost "Innere Wurzeralm" and turn off to the right, directed to the forest.

The above mentioned walk in the forest is rather exhausting, we traverse the river on an adventuresome bridge, cross the forested trail and reach a clear forested area before reaching the Innere Wurzer Mountain Hut (1,883 m a.s.l.). Now we reach the more amusing part of the tour and our destination, the so-called "Zwiesl" is also visible. Across a flat valley basin we approach the summit slope, in zigzag we reach the highest point (2,220 m a.s.l.) of the Wurzer Alpenspitze in the Stubai Alps. This point could also be reached via a couloir. We enjoy a fantastic view on the mountains of the Ridanna and Racines Valleys, and the ones of Fleres with the mighty Tribulaun.

We ski down along the track on which we walked up. In secure conditions you could ski down the couloir oriented towards north, leading to the Wurzeralm Mountain Hut. The slopes in the upper part reward us for the exhausting part in the beginning. Easy tour, rather exhausting in the beginning, great grounds for skiing in the upper part!
