Regglberg

From farm to farm and from pasture to pasture: the alpine pasture of Regglberg surrounding the Val d’Ega and Aldino is an idyllic spot of land.

Reggelberg, also called Monte Regolo, is a plateau located in the south-east of South Tyrol that belongs to the Alps of Val di Fiemme at the western border of the Dolomites. The villages in this area are called Nova Levante, Nova Ponente, Monte San Pietro, Aldino and Redagno. Also the famous pilgrimage site Pietralba and the “Grand Canyon of South Tyrol”, the Rio delle Foglie gorge, are located right in this area.

The high plateau extends at 1,350 m asl at the ridge of the porphyry plate of Bolzano, an ancient volcanic extrusive rock. The number of alpine pastures and farms in this area is considerable, the Lahneralm, Schmiederalm, Schoenrastalm or Auerlegeralm pastures are only some of the alpine meadows extending in this precious natural scenery. Recommendable in this undulated area are above all hikes from pasture to pasture. Mountain meadows, fields, larch forests and alpine pastures alternate and make the landscape varied and impressive.

If you aim higher, right from this place you can also undertake some impressive mountain tours, such as on the Corno Bianco and Corno Nero. There is no need for particular alpine skills for these hikes, both of them are without considerable difficulties. Nevertherless you need to be sure-footed and free from giddiness.
