Pond of Fiè

The pond of Fiè is a pleasure in summer and winter.

The pond of Fiè is indeed not very large, but very popular. It has been established by Leonhard von Völs-Colonna as a fishpond in the 16th century. Today, however, fishing is no longer permitted. The great location of the lake, at the foot of the Sciliar and Santer peak as well as in close vicinity to reknown hiking destinations makes this pond both in summer and winter a popular meeting place for those who love swimming, ice skating and hiking.

The surface of the lake is about one hectare, half of it is designated as biotope. The average depth of the lake is about 3.5 m.
The lake is situated 12 km above Bolzano, in other words within easy reach from the main city. In summer you can enjoy fresh mountain air in combination with swimming in the refreshing pond.

In winter, however, you can enjoy ice skating. The pond of Fiè is one of the only lakes in the surroundings which is cleared for ice skaters in case of snowfall.

Worth mentioning is also its vicinity to the Alpe di Siusi, which offers varied possibilities for leisure time activites both in summer and winter.
