The gruppo Latemar is a mountain range in the south of the Catinaccio, separated from this mountain chain by the Passo di Carezza. This mountain range is accessible from the Val d’Ega in South Tyrol as well as the Alpe di Pampeago and Predazzo in the Trentino.
The Latemar is characterised by its form of a horseshoe, open towards east. This mountain range has got two subgoups: one north group which includes the peaks from the Cima Poppe (2,460 m) to the Torre dei Muss (2,402 m), whereas the mountains of the second group tower up round Monte Agnello (2,358 m).
However, this mountain range, both in winter and summer, is a perfect outdoor pleasure ground! A very popular but exhausting mountain tour is a hike to the Cima Latemar (2,791 m) from Passo di Carezza via Passo Latemar Piccolo.
By the way: According to a legend, the mountains of the Gruppo Latemar are fossilized puppets :-)
