Sciliar
The Sciliar is the emblem of South Tyrol.
This massif is not extraordinarily high (2,563 m) but it is unique, especially due to its from and the distincitive pinnacles, which are the Santner and the Euringer peak. Due to this characteristic it is considered to be the the symbol of South Tyrol. The first ascent of the Sciliar massif dates back to 1880 and Johann Santner, who dubbed the Santner peak.
The limestone massif of the Sciliar is really legendary. Once upon a time the wiches used to meet and dance on this mountain.
The Sciliar massif borders on the largest high alpine pasture troughout Europe, which is also perfect for different leisure time activities like hiking and walking as well as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and skiing in winter - always with a great view on the Sciliar.
> Our tip: Hiking on the symbol of South Tyrol, starting from the Pond of Fié (long and exhausting hike of medium difficulty!)
