Sella

The Gruppo Sella is a distinctive mountain plateau in the heart of the Dolomites.

The Gruppo Sella is a distinctive alpenstock in the Dolomites, which is situated in the east of the Sassolungo and in the north of the highest summit of the Dolomites, which is the Marmolada. The Gruppo Sella is surrounded by the four Dolomite passes Passo Gardena, Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella and Passo Campolongo.

The highest summit of the Sella alpenstock is called Piz Boé (3,152 m), which is a very popular mountain, above all due to the fabulous view it provides. Moreover it is one of the mountains of three thousand metres of the Dolomites that can be climbed rather easily, starting at Passo Pordoi.

However, there are also other famous mountains like the Cima Pisciadù (2,985 m) as well as the Piz da Lec de Boè (2,910 m). Those who love climbing will be familiar with the Sella pinnacles (Torri di Sella), which are among the most popular and accessible alpine rock climbs in the Dolomites. Hikers, however, will enjoy the Dolomite high path n° 2 taking them across this alpenstock.

Furthermore this mountain range is world-famous due to the Sellaronda, a popular route on skis which takes you round the mountain group. In summer, the circuit round the Sella mountain range is very popular with motor bikes and also mountain bikers.
