Proves

From Proves, the highest located village in the Upper Val di Non, you can reach numerous alpine pastures and managed mountain huts

Proves is the name of the highest village in the Upper Val di Non: It is a small, charming holiday resort far away from any mass tourism. Here, tranquillity reigns above all, the large ski areas and hiking centres are many kilometres away. This seclusion has characterised the mountain village for centuries: Formerly a mining village, even in the 1990s it was only accessible via the Trentino. At that time, the new tunnel was built on the Passo Castrin mountain pass, which today connects the hamlet of Proves with the charming Ultimo Valley.

Where once a bobbin lace school and a basket weaving school provided extra income, today the visitors are the ones who relax here amidst spectacular mountain landscapes. The alpine pastures of Proves are well-known - you can discover them on a circular hike. One or two stops to enjoy homemade cakes or other typical desserts should also be planned: The tour takes you to several mountain huts, four of them are managed. Another hike leads along the Proves Adventure Trail past a model of an orchid blossom and a mill, a Kneipp facility and a word puzzle - also interesting for families.

Due to the high altitude of Proves, winter brings plenty of snow. Recreation is also a theme in the cold season, when winter hiking trails and snowshoe tours lead up to vantage points where, on a clear day, even Lake Garda sparkles in the distance. A practice slope near the picturesque village centre of Proves can be skied with tubing tyres, pointed bobsleighs or quite classically with sleds or skis: The Provi Snow Park also offers courses for beginners.
