La Valle

La Val, the first certified hiking village in South Tyrol, is the starting point for mountain tours in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park

The holiday village of La Valle extends in a quiet location in the eponymous valley, at the foot of Mt. Armentara and Mt. Sasso di Santa Croce. Here you can live in harmony with nature: Next to old part of La Val, where the 14th century tower is the last remnant of the former church, stands the present-day village centre of St. Genesius. Small clusters of farmhouses, called Viles, extend all around on the slopes of the Val Badia valley.

La Valle - La Val in Ladin - is the hiking village par excellence: A few years ago, it was the first South Tyrolean village to be awarded the title "Hiking Village". Today, five certified paths lead into the surrounding mountains and the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, including the trail "Tru di Pra" up to the protected Armentara Meadows. 197 species of flowers bloom here every year in early summer. On the other hand, the "Memento vivere" contemplation path from the village centre to the St. Barbara Church, called Santa Berbura, is suitable for a walk. It towers a bit lonely, but in the most beautiful panoramic position on a hill above La Valle and is well known among culture lovers for its murals inside.

When the first snow falls on La Val in late autumn, the ski areas do not have long to wait before opening their slopes. These include that of Alta Badia, a few km away, as well as the famous Plan de Corones. The Armentara Meadows, on the other hand, attract cross-country skiers in the cold months, who can choose between three trails in the Armentara cross-country skiing area. The 1.6 km long Armentara-La Cialciara sledge run also starts there, a highlight for a family excursion.
