Ceves

The three bells of the succursal church of Saint Peter in Ceves, known for their ringing, can be heard here regularly

If you head north from Vipiteno towards the Brennero Pass, the valley station of the Monte Cavallo Cable Car comes into sight first, followed by the farms of Ceves (Tschöfs). It is a small village with rural charm. The farms of Mazzes, Raminges di Sotto, Ceppaia and Flanes are located on the western slope of the Monte Cavallo - an ancient settlement area that was already known to the Romans. Due to the construction of the Brennero Motorway, the village centre was divided.

Monte Cavallo (Rosskopf) above it is one of the most popular excursion destinations. Easily accessible and varied, already the ascent enchants with its view over the valley basin of the Upper Valle Isarco. Between llamas and high ropes courses, Alpine Coaster and huts serving South Tyrolean dishes, numerous paths wind their way through the magnificent alpine landscape at the top of the mountain. One of them will take you to the small alpine village of Valmigna or Vallming, which also belongs to Ceves, in slightly more than one hour. The excursion is also suitable for children. In winter, sledging and skiing can be enjoyed on the Monte Cavallo.

Only 850 metres separate the Monte Cavallo Cable Car from Ceves. Thanks to the proximity to Vipiteno, a car is not even necessary: The centre with the old town or the Balneum with indoor pool and sauna can be reached on foot or by bus in just a few minutes. In the other direction, to the north, is Colle Isarco, the main village of the market town of Brennero.
