Rittnerhorn Almhütte

Auna di Sopra / Renon

Auna di Sopra is boasting a breath-taking view.

> Altitude: 1,300 metres above sea level

First written documents about the Renon date back to the year 900 AD, when the name “Mons Ritanus” - referring to the plateau of Renon - was mentioned. In 1900, the Austrian government planned to make Auna di Sopra a climatic health resort. But due to the First World War South Tyrol became part of Italy, the plans had to be changed and Austrian Seefeld was chosen to became the new climatic health resort.

Nevertheless, Auna di Sopra - known as Oberinn in German - has always been an ideal recreation area. Beautiful hikes are waiting for, such as the hike to the Corno del Renon summit, which features one of the most stunning views of South Tyrol: from the mighty Großglockner Mountain in the east to the Dolomites in the south and the Ortles Massif in the west…

> We suggest: a picnic on rich green pastures in summer and the Törggelen new wine tasting in a traditional inn in autumn!
