Cardano

Surrounded by vineyards, Cardano is located close to the capital Bolzano.

Cardano in situated in the Valle Isarco, not far from Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol. It belongs to the municipality of Cornedo, other localities of which are Prato Isarco, Briè, San Valentino in Campo and Collepietra. Surrounded by vineyards, Cardano is conveniently placed as regards transport.

Very striking is the Castello di Cornedo, located in raised position at the entrance of the Val d’Ega. This castle was built around 1200 and is considered to be one of the most ancient buildings in the valley. Since 2006 it is also open to the public. Other sights include the museum of Collepietra as well as the Max Valier observatory at San Valentino in Campo. There is also a cycling path to Bolzano, which is about 2 km long.
