Laives

Laives is located in the heart of the Alps.

> Altitude: 240 metres above sea level

Laives has been mentioned for the first time in 1189: documents from the 12th and 13th century demonstrate shipping traffic on the Adige in those days. In 1859 the railway was inaugurated, which was the end for shipping traffic on the Adige. Until some time ago there was a shipping museum in Laives, which in 2004 has been transfered to Rovereto (TN).

However, Laives and its localities San Giacomo, Pineta, Vadena and Branzolo has got much to offer. In Laives people used to celebrate the carnival with a pompous procession: Moreover in May, there is the so called “Koefelefest”, whereas in summer a big summer festival takes place…

> Our recommendation: a traditional “Toerggele”-evening and a hike to Laimburg Castle!
