Longomoso - known as Lengmoos in German - is especially popular with all those interested in culture and tradition. The local commend for instance, founded in the 13th century as a hospice of the Teutonic Order, hosts numerous cultural events such as the “Rittner Sommerspiele”, literally the Renon Summer Plays. Organised for the first time in 1973, these special kind of plays are performed every year from late July to Mid-August.
A special story is that one of the so-called “Wirtsmandl”! In 1822, Felix Mair was born on the Sallrainhof farm in Longomoso, a busy and hard-working man building loads of houses, farms and inns in his life. He even contributed when the high-altitude refuge on the Corno del Renon was built and became thus fairly famous as the so-called “Wirtsmandl”, the local people’s name for an innkeeper…
> We suggest: Visit the earth pyramids of Longomoso/Monti di Mezzo! And afterwards, some tasty speck dumplings with South Tyrolean cabbage are a great way to round up a perfect day!
