Lengstein, Kirchlein 2009

Longostagno / Renon

Why this quaint little hamlet is worth visiting.

> Altitude: 970 metres above sea level

The Renon plateau is called “Ritten” in German and boasts a total of 17 hamlets and villages. Most of the rich green area is used for agriculture. On the lower sunny slopes rich green vines are growing and slightly higher you will find fields, meadows and pastures.

From Longostagno - originally called Lengstein - you might embark on a beautiful trip to the St Verena church. Already in primeval times it was a place of worship but the first written document mentioning the church dates back to the year 1256. Here you can gain a lovely view of the Dolomites and the hamlet Castelrotto nestling on the other site of the valley.

> We suggest: Have a look at the wall painting (1761 AD) at the Oberschlichterhof farm and explore the colourful local woods made up of downy oaks, chestnut trees and hornbeams!
