Vadena

On the west bank of the Adige, not far from Bolzano, there is the municipality of Vadena which is characterised by a southern atmosphere.

The municipality of Vadena is located only 8 km from the city of Bolzano and offers a varied landscape as well as a rather Mediterranean atmosphere. Surrounded by greening apple trees and forests, the locality borders on the area of Lake Caldaro. It consists of several small villages and the inhabitants mainly live on viticulture and fruit-growing.

Also the agricultural college and the Research Centre for Agriculture and Foresty Laimburg make part of Vadena and consequently also the famous “Felsenkeller” (Rock Cellar), where the governor of the province often receives associations and bands in order to thank them for their work. However, also numerous other events take place in this special cellar.

Regarding leisure time activities you can choose from a wide range of offers such as motorbike rides, a day at the shores of Lake Caldaro. Moreover there are numerous trails snaking in the surroundings, e.g. Castelfeder or Aldino-Radegno are reachable within short time.

We particularly recommend you a hike to Castelchiaro (Leuchtenburg), which is directly located on the hill above Lake Caldaro.
