Lagundo village

The village of Lagundo is located in the mild climate of the Merano region, directly in the neighbourhood of Merano

In a slightly elevated panoramic position, Lagundo village adjoins the spa town of Merano, more precisely the district of Quarazze. It is called "garden village" or "grape village", but it is not the centre of the municipality any more: This is now in the neighbouring locality of Rio Molino, where the town hall is located. Apple and olive trees, vines and palm trees thrive here - a Mediterranean atmosphere, guarded by the mighty three-thousand-metre peaks of the Tessa Group above.

Everything gathers around the old parish church: volunteer fire brigade, shops, cafés and several fruit and wine farms. The church is dedicated to St. Hippolytus and St. Erhard and houses some valuable art treasures that refer to Tyrol's eventful history of time and art. But it is also interesting outside: It shows three architectural epochs, Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque.

From Lagundo, many paths lead into the nearby surroundings or high up into the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park. The Lagundo Waalweg path above the village is particularly popular: Just outside Lagundo village (Algund Dorf), on the other side of the Rio Grabbach stream, the bus stops at the "Waalweg" bus stop. There you can explore the surrounding landscape and enjoy a hike. It is divided into two parts, so you can try both directions: To the west, it leads to the hills of Plars di Sopra and Plars di Mezzo. Towards east, it takes you to the Merano district of Quarazze.
