> Altitude: 310 metres above sea level
Already some 10,000 years ago, the slopes surrounding Lana recorded the first settlements. In the 19th century, however, when the railway line Merano Bolzano was built, the area started flourishing. Due to the drainage of the former fens, a lovely village (see picture) rose in the middle of orchards and vineyards.
Obviously some mighty castles tower throughout the area such as Braunsberg Castle slightly above Lana. And the 9 holes golf course, an outdoor pool and a new riding stable guarantee for lots of sports opportunities at the heart of a beautiful scenery. By the way: Lana is the ideal starting point for exploring near-by Val d’Ultimo Valley…
> We suggest: a walk throughout the Gaulschlucht gorge and a visit to the South Tyrolean Museum of Fruit-Growing!
