Known as Burgstall in German, the friendly village locates at only 8 km south of Merano at the heart of a rich green valley basin. First written documents date back to the 13th century, mentioning the castle that gave the village its German name. Starting off in the village centre, a small cable car will take you to Verano, where lovers of nature will find a unique hiking paradise characterised by colourful meadows and larch trees.
Postal is also home to South Tyrol’s only museum of animals. Opened in 1972, the museum by Simon Ratschiller, an experienced taxidermist, hosts partly rare kinds of birds and mammals. Opened from March to October!
> We suggest: Explore the remains of the old circular wall of the Burgstall Castle and enjoy fascinating natural sceneries while doing sports on the 4 km long keep-fit trail!
