Prissiano

Prissiano is a locality that belongs to the municipality of Tesimo. It is located on a low mountain range and numerous castles and residences characterise the landscape.

> Altitude: 610 m asl

In the Meraner Land, strictly speaking on a low mountain range of Tesimo, there is the village of Prissiano, located at an altitude of 610 m asl. Agriculture has always been and is still a very important element in this area. Prissiano is surrounded by apple and chestnut trees and its name derives from the Roman general “Priscus”.
However, not only farms characterise the landscape, but there are also numerous castles and residences, e.g. Wehrburg Castle, Fahlburg Castle and Katzenzungen Castle are testimonies of history. By the way, Katzenzugen Castle has to offer a real highlight, which is the oldest and largest vinegrape of Europe, covering some 300 square metres.

Those who love hiking will be enthusiastic about Prissiano and surroundings, as there are a wide range of hiking paths perfect for a pleasant walk. As Prissiano is located close to the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park, you can also enjoy a fantastic panorama. Thanks to numerous cycling paths in the surroundings you can also explore the area by bycicle.

> Our tip: make an autumn walk across the “golden” landscape and spend a nice “Törggele” evening with folk music, chestnuts and grape juice together with your beloved ones.
