Campi al Lago
High above the lake and Campi al Lago, there is the majestic Castelchiaro castle towering into the sky.
The village of Campi al Lago is located on the east side of the lake at 214 m asl. It could be assumed that the village makes part of the nearby village of San Giuseppe al Lago, but in fact it belongs to the municipality of Vadena, located behind the Monte di Mezzo.
Its protected location between the mountain and the lake make Campi al Lago a little paradise that is above all worth a visit in spring and autumn thanks to the marvellous natural landscape in which it nestles. The Castelchiaro, which is the symbol of the inhabitants at the shores of the lake, rises high above the lake and can be reached in an easy walk. From Castelchiaro you can proceed to the Denti di Cavallo, which are particularly interesting rock formations.
On the northern lakeside, only a stone’s throw from Campi al Lago, there is a protected area, which provides interesting information on animal species and their habitat on 14 information panels.
Our tip: particularly recommendable is a walk across the Valle della Primavera (Spring valley) in March-April, as the first heralds of spring flourish much earlier in this valley than anywhere else.
