San Nicolò
Agriculture has got an important role to play in San Nicolò, just as in the entire valley.
San Nicolò, a component locality of the municipality of Ultimo, is located at 1,256 m. To attract the visitors’ attention is the church steeple that overtowers the shingle-roofed farmsteads of San Nicolò. The church has been mentioned for the first time in the 14th century, in the interior you can admire a neo-Gothic winged altar decorated with beautiful figurines.
The village is also site of the valley museum, providing an insight into the rural cultural goods of the valley: clothes, statues, items of daily use, furniture and much more exhibits. By the way, the museum also makes you become familiar with the fauna of the Val d’Ultimo.
A further highlight: above the “Thurnerhof” farmstead, you can retrace mysterious stone figurines. It is still unknown where they come from and when and who brought them into being.
