Casteldarne

A hamlet belonging to the municipality of Chienes.

Built around Casteldarne Castle, the former residence of the Counts of Künigl, is the hamlet Casteldarne. The castle is made up of two parts: the ancient, hardly renovated southern part and the baroque one, rebuilt in the 17/18th century. The baroque rooms and the church with the Virgin Mary icon are known for featuring fairly rich interiors!

The hill on which the castle is built and the near surroundings are ideally-suited to long hikes in summer and winter alike. What a peaceful place this is…
