Chienes

Chienes is located close to the Plan de Corones skiing area, its attractions are a pine oil distillery and Casteldarne Castle.

The municipality of Chienes is located about 8 km from Brunico and has got some 1,650 inhabitants. Beside the chief village of Casteldarne, it also comprises San Candido, Corti and the mountain ridge of the Monghezzo with its large number of farmsteads. Thanks to the station of Casteldarne, Chienes is well-connected to the local traffic system. So why don’t you travel by train?

As far as your holiday programme is concerned, you absolutely have to visit the pine oil distillery Bergila, make a walk to the Castello di Casteldarne and a tour to the Cima di Pozzo in the north of Chienes. In summer you don’t have to miss an afternoon at Lake Issengo, and of course you also have to visit the high rope course Kronaction. Chienes is connected to the cycle track of the Val Pusteria and is, for this reason, ideal for a cycling tour together with your family.
