Rasun

Rasun is the gateway to Valle Anterselva

> Altitude: 1,030 metres above sea level

10 km after Brunico - in the direction of Alta Val Pusteria - you can see on your left the colourful Valle Anterselva valley. Right at the beginning of the valley there are the villages Rasun di Sopra and Rasun di Sotto, popular above all for the mighty mountains in the background such as the Vedrette di Ries or the Collalto and Collaspro glaciers.

In the year 1200 the Rasun Vecchia Castle slightly above the place served as a residence to the Lords of Rasun. Still today you can see the remnants of the castle, which is by the way an ideal hiking destination. Another beloved destination is the biotope of Rasun, featuring an interesting flora and fauna. Did you know that this is the only place where you can find sundew, South Tyrol’s only carnivorous plant?

> We suggest: Don’t miss the lovely festival organised when the cattle and sheep are moved down the mountains to the valleys again and cycle to Lake Anterselva!
