San Candido, a donation by the Bavarian duke Tassilo III to the Benedictine abbot Atto, originally served as a monastery to spread Christianity in the Alps. Nowadays, the Roman church with its historic picture about the crucifixion of Jesus, the ceiling frescoes, a crypt and an abbey museum is a popular site of interest!
