San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo is a market town with its own special charm.

> Altitude: 810 metres above sea level

Already in primeval times, in the late Mesolithic age, there was an early settlement on the very spot of San Lorenzo. Several centuries later a Roman military station was built right in this place, whose remnants can be seen even today. The Romans left a Christian site of worship dedicated to Saint Lawrence. This was also the reason why the Rhaetians later on called their town San Lorenzo…

Mantana, Onies, Ellen, S. Martino, Moso, Maria Sares, Santo Stefano and Castelbadia are all part of San Lorenzo and represent truly special destinations. In their surroundings you will find the castle of S. Michele and Castel Badia, the pilgrimage church Maria Sares and a memorial place.

> We suggest: Pay a visit to the antiquarian museum and hike along the archaeological trail!
