Certosa, Monte Catarina, Madonna di Senales and Vernago - this are the quaint little villages stretching across the rich green mountain valley Val Senales. In the upper valley you will find the base station of the glacier cable cars of Val Senales, which will take you to a fantastic year-round ski area even in warmer times of the year. Every year right after a short summer break, the ski area opens its doors again and a huge snowboard opening attracts both young and old…
And every year in June the past comes alive again. As hundreds of years ago, the local shepherds moved their sheep across the Italian border to Austrian Ventertal Valley, while others are on the lookout for traces and remains of South Tyrol’s most legendary inhabitant: the Ötzi Iceman! It was only in 1991 that his well-preserved body was found on the Similaun Mountain at the heart of the Val Senales Glacier. In the meantime, numerous exciting events and places have been dedicated to the Iceman, such as the Archeoparc Adventure Museum, a show gallery, adventure weeks as well as an Alpine marathon.
