Certosa, Monte S. Caterina, Madonna di Senales and Vernago belong to the picturesque Val Senales.

At the head of the valley, there is the valley station of the Val Senales funicular, taking winter sports enthusiasts in the skiing area, which is by the way open from October to May. After a short summer break, the skiing area inaugurates the new season with a snowboard opening and a huge party.
From time to time, in Val Senales the past becomes alive, as there are some customs that are still in use. Like several centuries ago, in June the sheep of the valley are moved across the Italian border to the alpine pastures of the Venertal valley, where they have always spent summertime, before they are moved back home. Those who love mountaineering might want to look out for the place of discovery of Oetzi, die Iceman, which was found on the Similaun glacier in 1991. The Archeoparc, a show gallery, adventure weeks and an Alpine marathon in Val Senales are dedicated to the glacial mummy.
Our Tip: A stop at the pristine artificial lake of Vernago at 1,680 m and an unforgettable trip with the caterpillar “Ötzi-Express” across the glacier.
