Stelvio

Stelvio nestles right at the heart of the Stelvio Nature Park.

> Altitude: 1,310 metres above sea level

The South Tyrolean hamlet Stelvio is situated among the Stelvio Nature Park. Founded in 1935, the Stelvio Nature Park features the highest pass of the Alps and borders the Italian region of Lombardy in the south and the Swiss Engadina in the north. Moreover, here you can find Europe’s largest summer ski area. And bikers shouldn’t miss a tour across the Passo Stelvio, featuring a total of 48 turns and bends!

The municipality of Stelvio includes the hamlets Solda, Trafoi and Gomagoi. Maybe you have already heard about Trafoi’s most famous inhabitant, Gustav Thöni? It was in the eighties that the top athlete won both the world skiing championships and the Olympic Winter Games! Today he runs his own ski school, where you can learn or improve skiing…

> We suggest: a mountain bike tour across the mountains and a visit to the pilgrimage chapel “Heilige drei Brunnen”, whose waters are believed to boast curative properties!
