Trafoi all’Ortles

At the bottom of renowned mountains, there is Trafoi all’Ortles.

Here, in the western corner of South Tyrol and where the mighty Ortles massif rises to the sky, nestles the enchanting hamlet Trafoi all’Ortles. The pretty surroundings and an untouched natural scenery are ideal for hikes and mountain bike tours. More than 300 sunny days a year and the breath-taking view of the Alps attract numerous visitors.

Friends of culture can look forward to monasteries, castles, museums and lots of other sites of interest in the near surroundings. The Churburg Castle or the monastery of Müstair (CH) are popular destinations of excursions and also the the nature park information centres “naturatrafoi” and “aquaprad” are worth seeing.
Worth visiting is also the “Messner Mountain Museum Ortles” in Solda. Here you are introduced to the ice and crystal worlds of the Ortles massif. Moreover you can watch all the valuable items the famous extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner collected during his several excursions. Altogether there are five museum all over South Tyrol belonging to the Messner Mountain Museum project.

Winter turns the ski area of Solda in a true paradise for skiers and snowboarders alike. The Solda cable cars (1,900-3,250 m) take you directly to the glacier, where snow and fun are definitely guaranteed. So what are you waiting for?
