Colle Isarco

Coming from north, on the way to South Tyrol, soon after Passo del Brennero there is Colle Isarco.

> Altitude: 1,098 metres above sea level

Soon after Passo Brennero lies a little village called Colle Isarco. A village, known as a popular resting place to everybody crossing the Alps within the last 4,000 years. In medieval times the place was flourishing. Only in 1818, when the near-by silver and lead mine was closed, the time of prosperity came to an end. When in the early 20th century a railway began running across the area, Colle Isarco turned into a popular climatic health resort.

Still today the village is a beloved holiday resort. The Tribulaun mountain and the Montarso glacier provide numerous hiking opportunities, from light hikes to challenging treks. And in the evening, you can look forward to cosy nights out. What about an Italian cappuccino or a delicious “gelato”?

> We suggest: Pay a visit to the market on the Brennero Pass and hike to the ruin of Castel Strada!
