Racines

Racines includes three valleys and is a perfect outdoor gym.

> Altitude: 976 metres above sea level

The municipality of Racines includes a total of three valleys: Val Ridanna, Val Racines and Val Giovo. All three valleys end in the mountains; but if you drive to the end of Val Giovo and cross Passo Giovo you will directly reach Val Passiria and arrive to the city of Merano. From a geographical point of view, Racines is the sixth largest municipality all over South Tyrol, even though it features only a small number of inhabitants…

Lovers of nature will find all they can wish for, from the ski area Racines-Giovo with its 8 gondolas and 15 ski runs to the St Magdalena miners’ chapel and an interesting gorge called Cascate di Stanghe. And those looking for a bit more of action might go for a rafting tour along the Fernerbach!

> We suggest: Visit Castel Wolfsthurn, the regional hunting and fishing museum, and explore the Cascate di Stanghe gorge!
