Right on sunny Monte Sole, far away from the main road, lies the mountain village of Rodengo. High above it towers Rodengo Castle, guarding the village and its surroundings. Rodengo stretches across gentle-rolling slopes and upwards to the Rodengo pasture at 1,800 m.
Rodengo Castle dates back to the year 1140, when the Lords of Rodank were reigning the area. In the 16th century it became one of the mightiest castles all over the region. Today the castle is opened to the public and features the oldest secular frescoes of the entire German speaking area.
> We suggest: Watch the flowering Alpine roses on the Rodengo pasture and don’t miss the traditional Kirchtag festival in summer!
