St. Andrä

S. Andrea

S. Andrea is located on 980 m asl and belongs to the episcopal city of Bressanone.

In the heart of an impressive low mountain range landscape, there is the sunny village of S. Andrea with its hamlets Meluno, Cleran, Cornale and San Leonardo. S. Andrea belongs to the episcopal city of Bressanone and is often considered to be the “terrace of the city”. Moreover this village is directly located at the foot of the local mountain of Bressanone, which is the Plose.

Both summer and winter the Plose offers a wide range of leisure time activities. In summer it is a popular hiking area that attracts people from all over due to the great view you can enjoy on the Dolomites and even to the Ortles mountain. Coniferous forests and wide, lush meadows characterise the surroundings of the village and of course there are several lodges where you can stop for a bite to eat. From S. Andrea, there is also a road to Passo delle Erbe, a mountain pass that connects the Valle Isarco and Val Badia.

In winter, however, the Plose transforms into a very popular skiing area, perfect for all the family. The valley station of the skiing area is directly situated in the centre of S. Andrea.

By the way: S. Andrea is also the place of birth of the composer Vinzent Goller. His father was a teacher in the school of S. Andrea as well as a sacristan and organist.
