Vipiteno

The medieval Fugger town is the chief city of Alta Valle Isarco.

> Altitude: 948 metres above sea level

Already in medieval times Vipiteno (see image), one of the seven South Tyrolean towns, was known as a mining town. Later on it would become the residence of kings and emperors, as proved by such precious cultural treasures as the altar by Hans Multscher or the marvellous inner city with its numerous bows and gables. In 2002 the town was awarded one of Italy’s most beautiful spots…

The main place of Alta Val Isarco features a unique nature and a stunning mountain world. In winter you can look forward to a number of ski areas such as Monte Cavallo, Racines-Giovo and Ladurns/Fleres.

> We suggest: Pay a visit to the town hall and the Zwölferturm tower, the renowned emblem of the town!
