Fleres

The Val di Fleres, also called “silver valley”, is an insider’s tip for those who love nature.

Fleres branches off from the Wipptal valley at Colle Isarco and extends from an altitude of 1,050 m to 1,245 m. Stretching into the Stubai Alps on a course of 16 km, Fleres is considered to be one of the most beautiful valleys of South Tyrol as far as the natural scenery is concerned. Scattered settlements such as Lasta, Gattern, Reisenschuh, Valmigna and Moncucco in Fleres di Fuori characterise the valley. The first farms date back to the far 13th century, the “Stein” farms in Fleres di Dentro.

What you absolutely have to visit is the historical mining rock with runic signs as well as the S. Antonio chapel. The real sight, however, is nature itself. Fleres is dominated by the majestic Tribulaun of Fleres, at the foot of which the Rif. Tribulaun, a popular hiking destination, is located. Also worth seeing is the “Hoelle” (hell) waterfall of Fleres. In winter Fleres is a place where the snow is not lacking, a benefit for those who love to do snow-shoeing, ski touring or winter hiking. Otherwise you can spend a day in the small but mighty Ladurno skiing area, terrain of the Italian ski racer Patrick Staudacher.
