The most famous inhabitant of Acereto probably is the extreme mountaineer Hans Kammerlander, who has climbed a total of thirteen 3,000 m high mountains, seven of them together with Reinhold Messner. Currently, Hans Kammerlander is a world famous mountain and skiing guide and the head of the South Tyrolean Alpine School.
