Cadipietra is the main place of the municipality of Aurina and offers a very interesting mining museum.
Cadipietra is located at 1,054 m, its name probably derives from the stone buildings (”pietre” in Italian) that characterise the village. One of these buildings is the mining museum Granaio di Cadipietra, the former food storage of the mine of Predoi. Since 2000 a special collection of the Enzenberg family is exhibited, that comprises wooden models, paintings, mining maps and findings dating back to the period in which the mine was still in operation.
Cadipietra offers a series of leisure activities, not only thanks to the skiing and hiking area Klausberg. One of the most popular hiking destinations in this hiking area is the Lago di Chiusa lake, which can be reached in an easy walk from the mountain station.
In winter, Klausberg offers well-groomed ski slopes as well as a Klausiland for the little ones. For those who prefer activities away from the slopes, there are also an illuminated toboggan run, and of course you also have to do après ski in the Hexenkessel ski pub at the valley station.
