A fairly long history characterises the village of Predoi. Already in primeval times the place was known for its copper mining industry. In 1893 the mine had to be closed and the local countrywomen moved to the Austrian city of Vienna to study the art of lace making. Still today this particular kind of art is handed on from one generation to the next.
Lovers of culture can look forward to a number of museums, from a quaint little museum dedicated to the world of mountain farmers at the Falkensteinhof farm to the Predoi Mining Museum, where still today an alternative way of mining - with the help of micro-organisms and bacteria - is used.
> We suggest: Pay a visit to the “Haus Prettau”, where you can watch the local countrywomen making true lace and enjoy a stay in the climatic health gallery!
