S. Giovanni
One of the most beautiful churches of South Tyrol is located in the village of S. Giovanni in Valle Aurina.
S. Giovanni is located at 1,018 m asl and dates back to S. John the Baptist, patron saint of the parish church. The parish church of S. Giovanni is by the way one of the most beautiful of South Tyrol. Also the high altar of Franz Schöpf is worth noticing.
In the mineral museum of S. Giovanni, however, you can admire about 950 minerals that have been collected together in the Zillertal Alps. Healing stones, minerals and other special stones, there is something for every taste.
Fun and entertainment are provided by the Klausberg and Speikboden skiing areas, which can easily be reached from S. Giovanni.
