Above San Leonardo, there is the village of Cresta, belonging to the municipality of San Martino in Passiria
The little mountain village of Cresta is located right in the place where the Val Passiria branches off towards west, that is to say high above the village of San Leonardo. Inhabited by some 100 people, Cresta is situated on a sun-drenched terrace.
For hikers, the little mountain village is a real paradise, as a dense trail network spans over this territory in the Gruppo di Tessa nature park. Also the famous Alta Via Meranese high path stretches in this area. This walking path involves two routes and is absolutely worth doing if you are an experienced Alpinists. In winter, however, there are also plenty of activities you can choose from. Experience the landscape with your snow-shoes or enjoy skiing or snowboarding in the nearby skiing area of Plan.
