Gitschberg-Jochtal skiing area

When two become one - from the winter season 2011/12, the two small but mighty skiing areas Gitschberg and Jochtal have become one, thanks to a new cableway.

Two skiing areas of moderate dimensions, both considered insiders’ tips for families and carving fans, have become one since the winter season 2011/12. The skiing areas in Maranza and Valles have been connected by a modern junction cableway.

A total of 44 km of ski slopes, 5 cableways, 4 chair lifts, 5 ski lifts, 1 small ski lift and 2 magic carpets characterise the ski resort Gitschberg-Jochtal. Along the slopes, the mountain huts and refuges such as the Anratter Hütte, the Pichler Hütte, Gitschhütte or the two mountain restaurants welcome you and treat your palate with local dishes, before you tackle the valley runs.

Wide slopes characterise above all the Gitschberg skiing area, while carving fans love the slopes in the Jochtal skiing area. Of course a day on the slopes does not finish without après ski, which can be enjoyed in the Mühle in Valles or the Schupfe in Maranza, as well as in many other bars.

If the weather is fine, from the top of the Gitschberg you can enjoy a great view on more than 500 mountain peaks, also the view from the highest point of Jochtal is admirable. Furthermore the skiing area offers a toboggan slope and a fun park. And thanks to a shuttle service, you are directly transported to the valley station and you can simply leave your car at your accommodation.

By the way: In 2012 the skiing area Gitschberg-Jochtal is on the fourth place in the ADAC ranking of the top skiing areas, congratulations.
