Prato allo Stelvio is the main town in the Stelvio National Park region and is home to one of the five National Park Houses: The aquaprad in the village centre tells visitors about the vital element of water, i.e. the streams, rivers, lakes, moors and ponds in the national park and their inhabitants. The 12 aquariums in the visitor centre are home to 30 different native fish species such as sturgeon and pike, brown trout and eel, zander and grayling.
In addition there are European pond turtles and other reptiles and amphibians such as the grass snake, fire salamander and river crayfish to admire. The exhibition "Amongst The Fish - A Journey Into A Strange World" is joined by different special exhibitions.
