In April, the Merano area is in full bloom - a wonderful opportunity to explore the area on two wheels

The apple blossom bathes the spa town of Merano and its surroundings in a pink and white sea of flowers, showing the area from a completely different side. At higher altitudes, the blossom starts slightly later. On the Val Venosta Cycle Path, we pedal hard from Riomolino di Lagundo to Rablà - a sweaty effort in places, as the trail climbs steadily.
In Rablà, we turn off into Via Cutraun and cross the main road, before continuing through the village and along the Zielstrasse to Parcines. This entire section runs through blossoming apple orchards. In the village of Parcines, we turn into Via Vallettina and, at a bend, join the beautiful Parcines Waalweg path, which we follow for 400 metres on an unpaved track.
The path along the old irrigation channel is also highly recommended as a hike. However, crossing the bridge over the stream is difficult without dismounting and pushing our bikes: Proceeding slowly here is a must, especially out of respect for hikers.
We then return to asphalt and cycle along the narrow road to Plars di Sopra with its lovely St. Ulrich Church. Passing Plars Castle, we reach Strada Vecchia road, also known as Alte Landstrasse. We follow this straight ahead and ride along Via Hueben into the old centre of Lagundo.
After continuing along Via Catinaccio and Via Alois Walser, we reach the Merano district of Quarazze. It is located north of the spa town on an alluvial cone, nestled among vineyards and apple trees. We then return to the main village of Lagundo via Via Laurin and Via Weingartner.
